 Pimlott Celebration at NT
« Thread Started on May 17, 2007, 4:38pm »

It was very emotional wasn't it?

Did you see Philip going into the stalls beforehand and the usher girl telling him he couldn't go in through the doors {thinking he was a member of the public}? ;D ~~~ she was rather embarressed ;D

I loved Philip & Maria's singing :) :) :)

Also the finale :)

I took some photos shall I email them to Eli?

PQ is a gentleman with a wonderful voice, a brilliant actor & is very kind ~ especially to my son.

Actually, PQ is just brilliant in every way.

I agree, it was a truly exceptional event. Two highly emotional hours in a packed Olivier theatre. Family members, directors, musicians, actors and friends paying tribute to Pimlott's passionate and generous life.
PQ and Maria Friedman performed 'Move On', from Sunday in the Park with George and later joined in the final chorus singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone".
I remained in a teary mood all day long...

Read an interesting and moving report of yesterday's event on Mark Shenton's blog:

It was an amazing event. Something very special.
I agree the highlight was Philip and Maria singing (with Jason conducting!)
However, I also thought that two of the most special , unique, fitting moments were Jeremy Sams, and, Jason Carr each playing excerpts of their own music for plays that Steven Pimlott directed.

I agree, the entire second half was almost too much to bear. If *I* felt that way - from only admiring the man's work - I cannot imagine how his long-standing friends and colleagues must have felt...

The full details about the event (including some photos) are now available on the PQG at this link:

hi I was there and agree with everything you say. At the end when everyone was out side the stalls talking. I was trying to get through as I needed to meet up with some -one who was involved. I was surprised to hear comments on PQ. They ranged from who is he!! I was ok until they sang "Move On", they sang together so well. Philip Quast, I had forgotten what a voice he has, PQ isn't he in Evita at the moment, I thought he was an actor, not a singer, It seem to be one of the topics being discussed generally out side.
