Ruthie Henshall - UK Concert Tour
« Result #1 on Jun 9, 2013, 9:22am »

Ruthie Rocked Edinburgh last night, in an absolutely superb concert!

Further tour dates are here:
http://www.ruthiehenshall.com/appearances.php

I have already booked for the London Cadogan Hall date on Thursday 8 August 2013, as well as Maria Friedman's concert there exactly one week later, so hope to see fellow PQG Board members at one or both of these!

Here's a video of Ruthie performing I Dreamed A Dream in Edinburgh last night! :-)

Memories of the TAC! :D

WOW his number. HAHA, lucky guy.

I always believe that he has idea of backstage such as lighting, directing, performance guiding or stage making. He has a whole image of his character as well as the musical or play. Now these confirm my thought. As an icon Javert, he'll inspire many Javerts in the future:P

Thanks for sharing again! Tell us more whenever some shots come into your mind before it fade away:)

I could share forever, never fear. :)

PQ didn't so much critique Audition Javert (who could clearly sing) as provide insights into the character and how that shaped his own performance. He said a few technical things about how it's actually a pretty hard song to sing, there's a sort of antiquated language structure in parts - he cited 'Lord let me find him, that I may see him' I think. My memory is fading a bit! PQ gave Audition Javert his number after the class, so maybe our Melbourne run will have a Quast-inspired Inspector. Will let you know if it's the same guy when I see the cast!

He mentioned how close (or not close) he would have wanted the camera if he had filmed Les Mis, equated it to how important to characterisation it is to be lit certain ways at certain times on stage - apparently he's had some heated conversations with directors in the past about lighting design! ("I'm not saying I'm always right, but ..."). Bless.

WOW, what a precious experience! I'm really curious about the guy who has an audition for Javert. What did PQ say about his stars? Did he do any critical things or just mentioned his own perspective of view instead?

Any descriptions besides the "he knows his way in the dark" shot? I cannot believe he hasn't seen the movie yet. HAHA.

Thanks for sharing!

Pacie, just that little bit of Stars ("he knows his way in the dark...") to demonstrate his point. I died. :)

Mia, spicy where appropriate .. as he said there's no point tiptoing around the subject matter! He did ask one of the students to slap him as she performed (she was reluctant) and was quite chuffed that another had hit him spontaneously the week before ("Are you going to hit me again? Which one of you hit me?") - haha. Great teacher. :)

Lauren, thanks so much for sharing! It's a treat to hear about the class - sounds amazing for a fan and also sounds like he's a great teacher. And he sang to you? Wowzers. Which bit?
