 The "Complete Recording Petition"
« Thread Started on Aug 15, 2006, 8:50pm »

We don’t mean to spoil the pleasure to all those who have eagerly been waiting for the release of the new Cast Recording, but we at the PQG feel entitled to our opinion: no matter how enjoyable this Highlight Recording is, WE WANT MORE!!

70 minutes don't do justice to this fantastic revival. Several crucial sections of the show have been omitted from the CD, some numbers (eg A New Argentina) have been shortened, many key scenes between Eva and Peron have been skipped altogether, not to speak of Peron’s speeches, none of which has survived. What a terrible terrible shame! :'( :'(

Hence our idea of a petition to the producers of the CD, which we hope you will passionately support. You will find more details about our initiative and how to make your voice heard at this link on the PQG:

http://www.allthingsquast.info/interact/evitapetition.php

Thank you in advance for your support!

The PQG *descamisados* ;)

Silly PS:
A Full Cast Recording!
The chains of the masses untied!
A Full Cast Recording!
The voice of the people cannot be denied!

Now that RUG has struck this deal with Universal Music and Cast Albums of ALW’s shows are also going to be downloadable via the Internet, the Petition might have even more chances of success: a Complete Recording of Evita might be produced for the “digital market” only, keeping costs down. I’m no expert in economics, but it sounds like a reasonable scenario to me! :D

All the best,
Eli

Huge thanks to all the people who have supported the Petition so far, we seem to have some high-ranking support too, which obviously increases our chances of success!

Thank you in particular to those of you who also added their personal comments, which will show the producers even more strongly how much we long for a Complete Recording.

We have sent a personal email to all those who have kindly submitted their details to confirm that their “vote” has been duly recorded. Keep the signatures coming: the longer the list of supporters the greater the impact of our Petition!

All the best to everybody,
The PQG Team

TECHNICAL NOTE:
We seem to have some problems sending our confirmation email to some supporters having an Aol or a Hotmail account. But no worries, your "vote" has been safely recorded!

It would also be fantastic if they recorded the show on DVD so we can re-live the experience. ;D

 Bring on the Ladies!

Just a little informal update while The Petition progresses.

WERE HAVE ALL THE LADIES GONE??? 80% of our supporters have been gentlemen so far! Is the old belief that musicals generally appeal to women not true anymore?

And don't forget that one of the main objectives of the Petition is to eventually be blessed with a Cast Recording where PQ's role of Peron has the prominence it deserves (those who have already seen live show will get our point).

So come on, "Quastie-ladies", a little effort: after all we have nothing to lose!!

Cheers,
The PQG "descamisados"

PS.: We've heard that some people agree with the "cause" but have some reservations about sending their private details over the Internet. Please allow us to reassure you: our host/server is 100% safe. Do you think we'd store 600 MB of PQG material on it if we had any doubts? ;D

Once again, many thanks to the people who have supported the petition over the past week. A special word of gratitude to those who might not have high hopes in the success of the Petition, but have signed it all the same as a way to express their regret that the current Recording is not as “inclusive” as they had expected.

The final deadline for signing The Petition is Sunday 10th September. We will then print the letter, the signatures & the comments and post the envelope to RUG (or we might even pay a little personal visit to Tower Street!)

Please keep the signatures coming and never underestimate the power of “popular demand”! :D

Cheers,
The PQG Team

PS. As usual, we have sent a personal email to all those who have kindly submitted their details, to confirm that their “vote” has been duly recorded. Once again some AOL accounts are not responding, let’s hope it’s only a temporary problem.

 Evita Petition: Final Week!

The past week was a very good one for the Evita Petition, we got a fantastic response from readers of the Dress Circle Forum, to whom we are infinitely grateful.
Thanks also to the people who have suggested other channels that we could use to announce the Petition, many of which have been very responsive too.

The closing date of the Petition is approaching, just a few days to go before the final deadline.
Don't miss this last chance to voice your opinion to the powers that be!

Thank you once more for your support so far,
The PQG Team

 Evita Petition: LAST DAY!

This is your last chance to sign the Evita Petition!
Tomorrow evening we will have to close the collection and finalize our letter to the Production Company.

Thank you to all those who "caught up" over the past few days, particularly so to friends from China, Korea, Canada, Australia... :D.
Please send your support if you haven't already done so, every signature counts for our "cause"!

We will keep you posted about the forthcoming stages of the Evita Petition in the days to come.

Cheers,
The PQG Team

A thousand thanks to Sir Tim Rice, who sent the warmest note in support of the "Evita Complete Recording Petition".
It's a real pity that the final decision regarding the 2006 Evita recording didn't depend on him only, because in that case we would have a Complete Recording now! :'(

But let's not give up! Sir Tim himself closed his letter expressing his "hope that a full recording will be issued".

We have forwarded the full text of Sir Tim's lovely reply to all the Petition's supporters.

While eagerly awaiting some feedback from the other recipients of the Petition...
Cheers from a very "chuffed" PQG Team ;D

It is sooooooooooooo brilliant news :) :) :) :)

We will keep our fingers crossed for more replies of YES soon.

DO you know if they recorded more tracks at the time or will they need to go back to the studio?

Alas, it seems that back in June the Evita cast only recorded the selected tracks that are currently available on the CD, so they would need to go back to the studio if they decided to go ahead with a full recording.

...UNLESS they opted for a *live recording* straight at the Adelphi, which would be a blissful alternative if you ask me! :D

That is a shame about them not recording the whole show earlier because it would cost more money to go into studio again.

A live recording would be wonderful and brilliant. :) :) :)

Are there other West End shows that have done live recording CDs?

Or a DVD of the show would be even better :) :) :)
