I saw a bus poster with Graham Norton as Albin on it... :S Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Having seen Spencer in the role at the Menier, I'm thinking Norton is just too over the top for anything subtle. I saw Julian Clary in Cabaret and thought the same thing. Hard to see past the TV personality. Be interested to hear everyone else's opinion!
(Hi, by the way, long-time lurker, first time poster!) S

Hi Siobhan, and welcome to the PQG Board! I'm afraid I won't be able to contribute to your interesting sub-thread: I'm seeing the show today, and have been told that Norton will be off owing to previous TV commmitments. I'm NOT in the least disappointed about that... which kind of unveils what my opinion about this whole "celebrity casting" business is!
Will report back about my show, in case anybody's interested. Cheers, Eli

Another nice tribute to PQ's talents by Mr Shenton in his latest blog entry on The Stage website:
"[Josh Groban's] is one of the greatest leading man performances I have ever seen in a musical, anywhere: there’s a depth, passion, and range to his singing that I’ve rarely experienced in a theatre. Only Philip Quast’s still-unrivalled solo cabaret turn in the Divas at the Donmar season back in 2002, and Antonio Banderas in the Broadway revival of Nine in 2003, rival him in my personal pantheon."
