Welcome indeed!
The PQG is certainly experiencing a lot of "traffic" these days, there has been so much going on. But it's hard to single out the new visitors as opposed to the regular ones.
Anyhow, we have added a link to the Broadway at Bedtime website on our Links page, they surely deserved it!
BTW, sorry if the updates have been a bit "untidy" over the last few days, but Eli was away on holiday. Everything is going to be *spick and span* before the end of the week, including a brand-new "Sweeney Page"!

- I've actually just tonight booked me and my pal tickets for the bbc symphony on 9/5/08. can't wait to eventually see philip quast on stage.

Hi there.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but my name is Alexandra (middle name actually, and Alex for short) and I'm new and wanted to say hello!
I've already posted this in the guestbook but it says everything I wanted to say about why I decided to sign up here so I'll post it again. I'm sure I'll find that I have a lot in common with others here. Great site!!! I've got a bit lost in all of the brill audio clips!
Here's my post from the Guestbook:
Name: Alexandra
When did you first hear of Philip Quast: Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Concert when my jaw hit the floor in awe! (in a good way!)
I've always loved Musical Theatre but I can be really picky about performers and performances I like or don't like. When I first heard/saw Philip Quast performing in the 10th Anniversary video for Les Miserables, I actually gained more of an interest in Les Mis as a work in itself! I've heard Mr Quast described as as an actor who sings rather than a singer who acts. I think that pretty much sums it up. He is utterly compelling with a voice like molten gold. On top of that all outward appearances and impressions of him that are available to read on the Internet lead to the suggestion that he is a thoroughly nice person as well. To be able to follow the career of a man whose passion lies in performing and performing well rather than in gaining as much tabloid column space as possible is very refreshing. All in all I'd say that Mr Philip Quast (what a great name!) is a wonderfully talented gentleman whose unassuming nature makes him all the more appealing. Thanks for providing a "one stop shop" for all the important info relating to this brilliant actor and singer. He really seems to be a class act!
I must say that I really like the fact that the site doesn't post silly trivia about Mr Quast as I always feel that there is a fine line between forums becoming a hot bed of gossip and maintaining the support for an artist which is all that fan forums should really be doing. I think you've done him proud and from the humble statements he's made about this site in his interviews, I think Philip Quast feels the same!

Welcome to this Message Board and please don't hesitate to post also some (moderate...) criticism whenever you feel like.

Encouraged by the previous contributor, I’ve finally decided to post what I have to say here. Please accept my apologies if it’s not the right place, and feel free to move it or contact me and I’ll repost, if that’s how it works. I went to see LCAF, largely because I’ve loved the piece for years, but also to see Roger Allam. And I have to say straight away, he was every bit as good as I expected, possibly even better. The name Philip Quast was pretty much just that, a name on a cast list. Albeit a name I’d come across before, but never seen or heard perform..no matter, to me the show was the thing; I was about to find out how wrong I was.
From the moment ‘Georges’ came bounding on to the stage, all twirls and bonhomie I sat back & relaxed knowing here was a performer supremely confident in his role and abilities. All was going beautifully, the Cagelles were amazing, it was witty and fun, and then came ‘Song on the Sand’ and I could feel tears pricking at the back of my eyes..something was wrong. Then in the second act the same thing happened with ‘Look Over There’. Now I’m pretty much word perfect on LCAF and know the story well and thought I was immune to its sentiments. This was something different, very different; here was an actor who clearly had something a bit special. I was fascinated.
He’s not the best singer I’ve ever heard nor the best actor I’ve ever seen but he certainly is one of the most intelligent, intense and affecting performers I’ve come across..he doesn’t just sing the songs or speak the words, he communicates them.
My curiosity truly piqued and unable to get that 2 ½ hours of theatre out of my head, I wanted to find out a bit more about Mr Quast. This is where I have to say an enormous thank you for the range and quality of your website, and for the respect it shows (whilst allowing just the right amount of girly giggling). Without it I could have been lost in the corridors of ‘google’ for weeks. As it was, I just got thoroughly lost (in a good way) in the wealth of your information and tangential links and felt I had fallen amongst friends. All of what I read reinforced what I had thought & felt..his is a truly remarkable talent for communication with a seeming need to share it.
I’ve since acquired a copy of Live at the Donmar and am learning more each time I listen to it..the nuances and infinite care with which each piece has been assembled and the range of emotions it evokes with each song. Though I do have to say, if it was a vinyl record as opposed to a disc, his rendition of ‘I’m on Fire’ would melt the damn’ thing to the turntable! Seriously, the most striking thing again is his ability to make me listen to a song I know well as If I’ve never heard it before, and I do mean listen, it is in no way background music, it demands your full attention. As an aside, is there anyone else who can hardly bear to listen to ‘Face of a Stranger’?
The only problem I am having is visual. Every time a photograph of him in performance was featured in an article from your site, he seemed to look completely different..to begin with, when I was looking at your curtain call pictures I was reduced to picking him out on height and stature alone. The publicity shot in the programme for LCAF looked nothing like the person I saw on stage, who in turn looked nothing like the pictures on the Donmar CD. Even allowing for ability to change appearance with each role, I was confused. Then I worked my way down to your Olivier Award photos and, oh my, different again, and how! I can now see where some of your contributors are coming from. Once I’d reseated myself back on the computer chair, I did note that it was a few years back..but even so! As a final decider, when I saw that the stage door photos had been posted from the 12th September’s last night I thought, well this has to be as accurate and recent an image as you can get. Yep, there I was, picking myself back up on to the seat again..and laughing at how fast the moustache had disappeared.
So I’m still a little confused and seeing the name Philip Quast doesn’t produce an immediate mental image, as most people’s names would, more of a collage. The good thing is the name does provoke a voice in my head, one of a supreme communicator, with a story to tell and something to share.
So now I’ve finally joined the PQG and stopped merely lurking, as I have been for over a month wondering whether I could add something sensible, and taken the plunge. As I’m still dipping in to the site almost daily, and finding new links to enjoy and the huge range of information so readily available, it seemed rude not to. And I wanted to say thank you for an informative, fun and, and above all, classy site; a cut above most mere ‘fan’ sites I’ve seen and one I’m looking forward to being part of.
